More About Me
My name is Catherine Glover and I set up CG Pro-Active HR in early 2018 after over 20 years working in HR, many of these years in fixed term, temporary or project roles.
It is safe to say that I’m not your average HR person….having originally come to HR from payroll and finance work, I understand numbers and data. I can also ‘speak IT’ and accounts which helps in delivering multi-disciplinary project work. Oh, and I love football (watching only these days)!
My values in life and in business are:
- Authenticity
- Honesty, integrity and professionalism
- Fairness, inclusion and respect
- Working smarter, exceeding expectations
For more on my approach to HR and reflections on being in business, see my blogs below
My HR background covers a variety of organisations, large and small, voluntary sector, NHS and private sector. My time working in small organisations is where I’ve picked up a better understanding of all parts of a business from IT to operational challenges and budgets.
I have taken something from most of my previous job roles, from the challenges of a call centre to large multi site operations with centralised HR teams. Along the way, I have learnt that I am too commercial for the public sector and that I love to get things done (mix of Belbin Completer Finisher and Coordinator styles).
All of this has led to my focus on delivering projects, working with HR Leaders to move their function from simply being an overhead / central cost to making a positive impact in their organisation. And with having just me in the business, I have the flexibility and agility to deliver a bespoke service to each and every client.
My vision is to provide clients with a safe pair of hands to tick those projects off their HR wish list, giving them more time and team resources to deliver quality HR for their organisation.
I have also reached a time in my career where I wanted to use my HR skills and experience for something other than just profits. So, along side delivering projects that add value to organisations, HR teams and employees generally, I also spend time volunteering my skills - previously for Suited for Success, on the Employment Advisory Board at HMP Onley and providing support to charities via The Cranfield Trust.
Award Winning!
I am so excited to announce that I have been chosen as the winner of Best HR Consultancy - West Midlands!!
Thanks to everyone who has supported me on the way 😁

For general questions on working with me, see below…
No, there is no charge for an initial consultation about your HR project needs.
I can work in any location and will be flexible depending on your requirements and those of the project work we agree.
You will need to supply work space for when I work at your site and access to your internal systems relevant to the project I am delivering. I can, however, use the CG Pro-Active HR IT equipment if you can supply the remote access means.
My charges will vary depending on the requirements of the project I am delivering for you. I will discuss specific charges as part of our initial discussions or a more formal quote.
As part of delivering your project, I may need to pass on travel and other relevant expenses, these would always be agreed with you in advance if this is the case.
Once my charges are confirmed with you, I may ask for a percentage of the charges to be paid up front and the remainder on completion. For some lengthy projects, we may instead discuss and agree staged payments during the project, usually based on completion of agreed milestones.
There are no ongoing contract terms when you engage CG Pro-Active HR and no lengthy tie-in. I will agree likely timescales and commitments prior to starting a project for your organisation, and keep you updated if this might change.
You can view the standard contract terms here.
Yes, I gained my level 7 equivalent CIPD qualification some years ago and have recently gained my Chartered CIPD status. I have professional indemnity insurance in place to cover all HR work delivered.
I have worked with a variety of clients in many industries, from a digital University to engineering firms and manufacturing to housing organisations. You can find out more throughout my website as case studies.

Do you compete with colleagues or other people in your profession? Or are you more likely to collaborate? Which do you find most successful?
It has been well over 20 years and there’s been quite a few changes!

Who has inspired who you are today? My personal hero is the late, great Graham Taylor. Not the typical hero for an HR professional, I realise!
