Process Improvements - starter project

The Challenge

A small HR Advisor team, each supporting different parts of the organisation. Internal review found their approaches could be disjointed leading to a tendency for siloed working and a difficulty in covering for other areas when needed.

Project Delivered

I spent time with all of the HR Advisor team during their working days, in particular reviewing how they each carried out the key processes around employee starters and leavers, plus changes to employees’ terms.

I mapped out each approach, identifying aspects where there was a shared approach. We undertook a root cause discussion on the differing areas, finding out why they differed, was the reason still relevant, was there an alternative way the aspect could be delivered. I facilitated the team to agree the most appropriate way to carry out the aspects that had previously differed.

All the revised processes were then mapped out as a working document for the team to use going forward. I also make recommendations for the next best processes to review.

Throughout my work I ensured the full team was involved and supported to input to the changes. I also demonstrated a continuous improvement mindset and encouraged the team to follow.

Outcome

Key outcomes included:

  • Employee starter, leaver and change processes all agreed and mapped for ongoing use

  • Recommendations for next processes to review

  • Left the team with guidance on implementing a continuous improvement approach to other HR processes

“Thank you for your time over the last few weeks, its been really helpful”

”I am looking forward to growing the seeds that you have planted! Showing us that we are capable and much more!

Its been a pleasure to work with you”
